Prospex and Presage grew from catalogue labels into brands in their own right, carrying Seiko’s diver and dress lineages upmarket. The Monster, the Sumo and the Marinemaster gave the 2000s its cult divers, each traceable to a 1965–1975 original.

Spring Drive matured from a lab project into the 9R calibers of 2004–05 and the movement of Grand Seiko’s flagships, joined by the returned 10-beat 9S85 in 2009. By the era’s close Grand Seiko was straining against the main catalogue, and the split was coming.
