Seiko 5106-7030
The 5106-7030 is a Seikomatic-P from Daini Seikosha, made from about 1967 to 1969, in a cushion case rather than the round case of the 5106-8010. The dial in this photograph is grey with a linen texture and reads SEIKOMATIC-P and 33 JEWELS over the Daini mark, with applied batons and dauphine hands that both carry a black centre stripe, and a day-date at 3. The 5106A is a 33-jewel automatic at 19,800 bph that hacks, hand-winds and changes the day and date instantly at midnight. Pressing the crown in advances the date. Textured dials like this one mark easily, so look for staining in the grain. The submitter dates this example to November 1968.

How do you set the date on a Seikomatic-P 5106-7030?
With the crown pushed home, press it in and the date advances one step. Avoid doing it in the hours around midnight while the calendar is changing over. There is no quickset for the day: run the hands through midnight to move it on.
