Seiko 6139-7012

The Seiko 6139-7012 is a rare military-issued automatic chronograph provided to the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) during the 1970s. While it shares its case and dial layout with civilian Seiko 5 Sports Speed-Timer models, this specific variant features a unique caseback engraved with the JASDF cherry blossom and wings insignia alongside an issue number. Unlike standard models, the typical Seiko factory markings and serial numbers are stamped on the inside of the caseback rather than the exterior. Powered by the historic caliber 6139 automatic chronograph movement, this reference includes a single 30-minute subdial, day-date complication, and an inner tachymeter ring. The distinctive orange chronograph hands contrast sharply with the matte black dial, providing excellent legibility for military aviators. Surviving examples are highly prized by collectors for their verified military provenance.
